The Basin
Advisory Committees provide insight and advice on water issues to
the Kansas Water Authority and serve as a forum for community
involvement. Each of the state’s 12 principal river basins in Kansas
has a Basin Advisory Committee. The committees were established on
June 28, 1985.
All Basin
Advisory Committees have seven core membership categories. They are:
agriculture, fish and wildlife, industry/commerce, recreation,
conservation/environment, municipal public water suppliers and
at-large public. Each basin also selects 2-4 committee categories
that reflect the needs and interests of that basin.
The
basin specific categories vary by basin. The categories and
other membership information may
be viewed on the BAC Membership page.
Additional information about each basin and the meeting notes from
past BAC meetings may be viewed by clicking on the basin name to the
right. Each of the 12 BACs is currently accepting applications
for membership. Are you

The BACs provide the working link
between the KWO staff and the public. The committees:
-
Advise the KWO and the KWA in
identification of water-related problems, issues, and concerns within
their basin.
-
Advise the KWO and the KWA in the
formulation of revisions to the Basin Plan for their basin.
-
Advise the KWO and the KWA
regarding the
Kansas Water Plan implementation priorities and actions.
-
Advise the KWO and KWA on policy
issues under consideration for inclusion in the Kansas Water Plan.
-
Serve as a link to the public in
the basin through interaction with various groups, legislators and individuals
and communicate information on concerns and issues to citizens in
the basin.
If you are a BAC member and are

and individuals, below are some items that may prove helpful. For
